With the boat you can make beautiful trips from the luxury holiday park across the Belterwijde and Beukelakerwijde. The Zuiderzee
The Verveners won the peat in strips. Where the peat disappeared, water came in its place and so "draft holes" were created. In between, land was saved: "keeping out" and the peat was laid to dry. By further dyeing, storms and floods from the time of the Zuiderzee, "weeding" arose, large stretches of open water through which the area became so famous.
The legend of the church bells of Beulake ... During a storm flood, so much water came from the Zuiderzee that a large amount of peat swept away and the village of Beulake drowned. The legend goes that you can hear the church bells submerged in the event of a storm.
